Governing Bodies of Soccer

• FIFA (Federation of International Football Associations):
  Governs soccer all over the world; sponsors World Cup; sanctions regional & national associations; establishes international rules for professional & amateur soccer;

• USSF (United States Soccer Federation):
  Governs all of United States soccer; organizes national teams; sanctions national associations; sponsors US Open Cup tournament; sanctions men's and women's professional soccer.

• USYS (US Youth Soccer):
  Oversees all youth soccer; sanctions state associations; oversees national youth tournament; sponsors Olympic Development Program (ODP) and tournament.

• USYSR2 (US Youth Soccer Region 2):
  Organizes league competition for top two teams from each state in the Midwest region; selects and trains regional ODP team; organizes regional competition in national tournaments.

• MSYSA (Michigan State Youth Soccer Association):
  Oversees Michigan youth leagues and players; sponsors MSPSP premier league & State Cup tournament.

• MSPSP (Michigan State Premier Soccer Program):
  Runs the Michigan Premier league (sponsored by Farmer Jack) under the authority of MSYSA.

• CASL (Capital Area Soccer League):
  Runs local select league and tournament; sponsors CA United premier program and teams CA United (CASL Premier Soccer Program). Runs local premier program and oversees CA United teams under the authority of CASL.

• AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization):
  Oversees a separate national organization for recreational youth soccer; recognized by USSF.

• SAY Soccer (Soccer Association for Youth):
  Another separate national organization for recreational youth soccer.
