The Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) is a proud member of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) in affiliation with United States Youth Soccer (USYS). All members including teams, coaches, players, and officials follow all MSYSA guidelines, rules, and regulations, which can be found on the MSYSA Website.

 

All CASL club members promote player development and offer a fun, competitive, safe, and positive environment for all players and teams involved.​

 

Remember the game is made for the players by the players!

Referee Points of Emphasis

​

  • Referees are required to be at the field 15 minutes prior to the scheduled kick-off

  • Referees must ensure the following:

    • All Match Cards (Game Sheet) are accurate on all three teams' Match Cards (Game Sheets) following the game​.

    • The referee should keep One (1) Match Card, and return Match Cards (Game Sheets) to the home and away teams

    • Following the game, the referee should email Infodirector@caslsoccer.org with a picture of the Match Card (Game Sheet) with the "Game Number", "Center Referee Name" and "Final Score" in the subject line.​​

    • The referee should also include any details they fee needed regarding the game. I.E. Yellow Cards, Red Cards Injuries, and any other prevalent information

PRE-GAME

Check-in:

  • Gather Match Cards (Game Sheets). Two (2) from the home team and one (1) from the away team. 
     

  • Collect referee fees from the Home team only. 
     

  • Use player passcards to verify players for the day's match. Check those present. Cross out those not playing. If a player does not have a passcard - they are not allowed to play.
     

  • Coach and Managers who are on the bench. All must have Risk Management/Passcards.

POST-GAME (ON-FIELD)

  • Note score, scorers, and cards issued on Match Card (Game Sheet).

  • Have each team manager/coach sign all Match Cards (Game Sheets).

​

  • Take a picture (for entering info into GO after the game and for your records) of the report with your phone.

​

  • Return Match Cards (Game Sheet) to teams and keep one for reporting. 

WHEN YOU GET HOME

Referees are required to submit a photo or scan of the Match Card the Home team provided to Gamereports@caslsoccer.org within 48 hours of the game.

  • Following the game, the referee should email infodirector@caslsoccer.org with a picture of the Match Card (Game Sheet) with the "Game Number", "Center Referee Name" and "Final Score" in the subject line.​​

  • The referee should also include any details they fee needed regarding the game. I.E. Yellow Cards, Red Cards Injuries, and any other prevalent information

Please Note:

Post-game is not a time to dispute or change the Match Card. Any complaints should be submitted to CASL's Complaints Director - Dan Moreno at Complaints@CASLSoccer.org

If either team has a complaint regarding the referee please submit it via the GLASRA Referee Feedback Form

Gameday Weather Information

 

Upon arrival at the field, the game may be called only by the referee. A game must be called under the following conditions: 

  1. Danger to players (such as lightning hail etc.) or poor field/game conditions (excessive water on the field, improperly anchored goal posts, strong winds, darkness). 

 

  1. Any time a weather siren is sounded the game is to be suspended immediately, and the referee must instruct coaches and players to seek shelter. Likewise, any time the referee sees lightning or hears thunder, the game is to be suspended immediately, and the referee must instruct coaches and players to seek shelter. 

    1. The game is not to be restarted until a period of 30 minutes has passed without lightning or thunder.

    2.  A game may be suspended for a maximum of 45 minutes. At such time the game will be called.
